Favorite things in one room

         As you know, I do love blue and white.  Shocker, I know, but I do also love my checks.  Great pics.

Bathing beauty

Look at this fabulous bathroom that belongs to Ralph Lauren.  I could spend hours in here surrounded by the crackling fire, and my favorite blue and white!

Two of my favorite things in one room

This room had me the minute I saw the blue and white ginger jars flanking the sink, because that is exactly what I have in my own kitchen.  Of course, you know I also love the lantern.  Two of my favorite things.....

Now, if only my kitchen looked like this one, I would be a happy camper.

Blue and white

I think blue and white can make a room.  I have friends that have put their pieces away, but I still love them in my house.  These groupings really make a statement!

Chairs in pairs

Here are some pics of my "pairs of chairs"

My walls in this room are now painted a Pratt and Lambert London Fog (a medium gray).  I think it adds a lot of richness to the room.

My walls in this room have always been white, and I like the crispness of the room with the dark hardwood floors.

I wonder who designed this room?  Could it be "Charles"?

I'm thinking gray.....

As usual, I find myself dreaming about a new kitchen.  I've been known to change my mind constantly, when thinking about the things I will do, but I have been pretty consistent lately, on my wish for gray cabinets.  My only issue right now is, what shade of gray.  I'm sure in the past I thought gray was gray, but oh no, not true!  Do I want a green gray, a taupe gray, or even a purple gray?  One of my favorite kitchens du jour, is a design by Sally Wheat, it's her own personal kitchen.  The cabinets are painted Benjamin Moore's fieldstone, and I do think they are fabulous. Of course, the carrera marble helps, and the white subway tile, seals the deal!  Take a look at several kitchens, in many shades of gray:

I love brie

You have to look at this picture of brie en croute...aka brie with pepperidge farm pastry wrapped around it, with cute little leaves cut out of the extra dough!  I have both brie and the pastry in my freezer, as we speak.  May have to fix this tomorrow for an afternoon snack.

 It is rather ironic that I fix this all the time, but mine never seems to look like this picture.  Anyway, if you make this, bake the "brie with pastry wrapped around it" for 20 minutes at 400 degrees.  Serve with Carr crackers. 

Noah's Ark

I know someone who has always had the need to buy everything in "twos".  A friend of hers once told her that "your house is not Noah's Ark", and you do not need to buy two of everything.  I think an exception to this rule, might be when buying chairs.  There is nothing that makes a statement like a "pair of chairs".  I have taken a count of my own "chairs in pairs", and I am up to five sets in my home.  Here are some great pics, and soon I will post my own personal collection:

Dreaming of lanterns in my kitchen

I so want to hang two lanterns over my center island in my kitchen.  Trust me, this is not the first thing that needs to be added, but it may be the least expensive "fix" of the moment.  I love this kitchen.

Simply amazing.....a girl can only dream!

About last night.....

I realize that in today's design world, ceiling fans are passe in the bedroom.  However, hubby and I enjoy the air flowing at night, so we still have ours, for the moment.   I, especially like it, being of the "over 50" gang!   Anyway, we have a running joke at night, to "hit the fan".  Well, last night before I went to "hit the fan", I glanced up at the ceiling to see bulging plaster!  My comment was "oh, hubby, you are not going to be happy"!  As he scurried upstairs to see where the obvious water in the bulges was coming from, I started contemplating a new painted ceiling and bedroom.  I then started fast forwarding to, oh no, does this mean that I may have to do something to the bathoom upstairs because of this obvious leak!  What's a girl to do?
I now have plaster hanging down from the ceiling, and will hopefully soon find out how much damage has really been done.  Thought for the day:  what color would Charles paint the bedroom?

By the way, off subject, but one more thing I forgot to add to the "things I love", I do love my red lipstick!  As my grandmother always told me, " you lose your pride and you've lost everything", and she NEVER left her house without her red lipstick on.... I'm channeling you, Nohnnie, and I'm carrying on where you left off.....

Getting to know me

Outside of my family, these are the things I love:  J. Crew, the smell of Neiman Marcus at Northpark, blue and white, toile, lanterns, buffalo checks, drop leaf tables, copper pots, monograms, gray cabinets, the smell of the inside of my late mother's grandfather clock, original claire burke scent, joanne hudson pottery,  the butcher shop cow head from wisteria catalog, and of course anything "charles"!

Who is Charles?

P.S. This is not really the 'Charles' I love, but it makes you laugh nonetheless!

New Addiction

I do not have an addictive personality, but I could easily become addicted to blogs.  Reading other people's blogs, or now, creating my own.  Look out world, here I come!
